Quote of the day from one of the tips I got for an assignment on the term “record” and the important connection between cataloguing and reference service:

“Your users didn’t come to you to learn how to be librarians. They came to get help with their specific problem. You need to justify the time they take to read this paper, by showing how it will help them meet their needs.” – Grant Campbell

I didn’t expect I would actually like a class on cataloguing!
